NCCC-XVII: Poster and Lecture Awards

14. 3. 2016 | Susan

The successful 17th Netherlands’ Catalysis and Chemistry Conference (NCCC-XVI) has been visited by over 500 participants from The Netherlands and abroad, having a background in academia and/or industry. Inspiring keynote speakers have been able to attract the attention of the participants which resulted in many animated discussions scattered over the three days.

Next to the various lecture and poster sessions, PhD students and post-docs obtained better insights into their career opportunities at the very much appreciated Career Development & Opportunities session. Also the NIOK PhD Platform presented their new Career Orientation Plan, their new board members and they organized a very nice Bowling Night in the Cheers Sport café. More of their upcoming activities can be found at their dedicated section on this website (NPP).

Each year poster and lecture awards have been handed over to promising young scientists. The VIRAN Poster Awards are handed over by Eelco Vogt (Albemarle, chairman of VIRAN) and the NIOK Lecture Awards by Joost Reek (UvA, Scientific Director NIOK).

The awards for the best posters at NCCC-XVII were awarded to Maarten Keulemans (University of Antwerp/KU Leuven) and Marjolein Velthoen (Utrecht University). The prizes consist of a plaque and € 500, sponsored by VIRAN. From left to right on the photo: Marjolein, Eelco and Maarten.

The NIOK lecture awards (plaque and € 500) were awarded to Roger Brunet (University of Twente), Sam Kalirai (Utrecht University), and Lennart van Haandel (Technical University of Eindhoven). From left to right on the photo: Roger, Sam, Lennart and Joost.
