Monique van der Veen has joined the Catalysis Engineering group at TU Delft in September 2013 as Assistant Professor. She obtained her PhD in 2010 from the University of Leuven – KU Leuven for pioneering the use of nonlinear optics to study the structure and dynamics of nanoporous host/guest materials. With a 3-year postdoctoral fellowship of the Scientific Research Fund Vlaanderen (FWO) she continued to work at the KU Leuven, and in group of Mischa Bonn at the Max-Planck Institute for Polymer Research in Mainz.  Her focus at TU Delft will be the improvement of thermo- and photocatalysis by porous materials in the liquid phase. Mechanistic insight in the catalytic process, provided by surface-sensitive and ultrafast vibrational laser spectroscopy, will lead the development of enhanced materials and processes.
