General Info: Homogeneous Catalysis Master Course
Concept: Set-up for a NIOK Master Course in Homogeneous Catalysis
Date and exact location are not known yet, please consult the website at another moment or contact the NIOK secretariat for more information
Learning targets:
At the end of the course, the student will have an overview of the newest developments in the area of homogeneous catalysis; catalyst design, ligand effects, and synthetic applications, and other possible topics depending on most recent hot issues or expertise of guest speakers. In addition the student should be able to formulate his/her own research questions and be able to present his/her own research topic.
Knowledge required:
Organic Chemistry; Organometallic Chemistry; Catalysis (general).
This course is therefore a so-called ‘kop-cursus” on top of existing lectures in homogeneous catalysis or related topics. Participating / interested locations are Amsterdam, Delft, Eindhoven, Leiden, and Utrecht. Participation from other locations is open and welcome. To be informed and implemented is the extent to which the content of existing local courses coincides/complements the course.
Format
- 3 consecutive days at Utrecht
- Students from elsewhere stay 2 nights in a hotel
- Course in faculty building
- To be repeated annually if successful (and after evaluation)
- 2 teachers
The content and examination of the course will be formulated within the next few months in mutual agreement between the participating locations.
In the future, the course could be a stepping stone to the general NIOK PhD course on catalysis and to the catalysis winterschool under development by IDECAT.
Number of students: approx. 3 per location on average (maximum 30).
Master students from all groups involved in NIOK, industrial participants from VIRAN
