Catalytic Surface Science Master Course

Venue: Leiden University, Gorlaeus Lab., Einsteinweg 55, Leiden

The course is first of all meant for masterstudents from NIOK University groups, but is open for other interested people if places are available. It is an intensive three-day course, lectures are given from 9.00 - 17.00. The number of participants is limited to 30.

The course will cover: 

  • Basic principles of surface chemistry
  • Principles of techniques for surface analysis and characterization including electron spectroscopies, ion spectroscopies, scanning probe microscopies, vibrational spectroscopies, in-situ spectroscopy
  • Structure of surfaces
  • Adsorption and reactions on surfaces
  • Theory
  • Case studies with emphasis on understanding of catalytic processes
