Floris Rutjes: Most entrepreneurial Scientist of NL

On 3 December 2008, Floris Rutjes (Institute for Molecules and Materials, Radboud University Nijmegen) has been awarded as being the most entrepreneurial scientist of the Netherlands of 2008. He received this price from Robbert Dijkgraaf and jury chair Eppo Bruins on behalf of the Science Alliance during the event of the ‘Innovatieplatform’. He has received a cheque of € 10,000.

One of the main reasons for being awarded was Rutjes’ initiatif for the foundation of Future Chemistry B.V.. The competition has been organised by Science Alliance in collaboration with VSNU and has been made possible with help of the ‘Innovatieplatform’ and ‘Octrooicentrum Nederland’. Scientists in this competition were judged on their scientific excellence plus their qualities as entrepreneurial.
