Dr. Marc-Etienne Moret joined the Organic Chemistry and Catalysis (OCC) group at Utrecht University as an assistant professor in August 2012. Dr. Moret obtained his PhD from the Eidgenössische Technische Hochschule (ETH) in Zürich in 2009 for his work on the study of reaction mechanisms in organoplatinum chemistry by mass spectrometric methods and on the reactivity of platinum-copper heterobimetallic compounds. He then moved to the California Institute of Technology (Caltech) for two years of postdoctoral research in the group of Prof. Jonas C. Peters on the activation of N2 by synthetic iron complexes. In Utrecht, Dr. Moret will develop a research program focused on the organometallic chemistry of first-row transition metals, combining experimental and theoretical approaches to elucidate reaction mechanisms and develop novel catalytic transformations.
